Featured Non-Profit
In order to raise public awareness and support of important causes, Crosby Legal Seminars features different non-profit organizations promoting positive goals and values.
Our current featured non-profit organization is Transition US, a nonprofit organization which supports the Transition Town Movement across the United States. Transition US is based on the Transition Town Model developed by Rob Hopkins, and works in collaboration with the Transition Network, a UK based organization which supports the Transition Town Movement internationally.
The Transition Town Movement is comprised of vibrant, grassroots community initiatives that seek to build community self-reliance and resilience in the face of such global challenges as peak oil, climate change and the economic crisis.
The Transition Town Model is more than simply an environmental movement in the sense that it incorporates additional goals and values such as community cooperation, citizen-led education, action, and multi-stakeholder planning to increase local self- reliance and resilience in the face of global crisis.
Transition Initiatives work with positive intention and enthusiasm to create a fulfilling and inspiring local way of life that can withstand the shocks of rapidly shifting global systems.
It all starts off when a small collection of motivated individuals come together with the the intention of initiating positive changes within their community.
This small team of people begin by forming an initiating group and then adopt the Transition Model with the intention of engaging a significant proportion of the people in their community to take the first step in creating a more self-reliant and thriving way of life.
If you are outside the Sussex County area, go to www.transitionus.org to find the Transition Town initiative nearest you.
